Writing Management Vs Practicing Actual Management in professional roles

It has been correctly said that there is a big difference between the Writing Management and practicing Actual Management in professional roles. The writing management actually consists of learning from books and penning down as per the questions asked in tests and exams. But Actual management in professional roles requires many more things than just writing management. It requires experience, expertise, ways to convey messages, patience and understanding to handle problems and finally good leadership qualities to help the organization move towards its goals and objectives. All these things can’t be learnt from books but they are learnt through experience.
It has been observed in the recent years that the students who enter the industry with good scores do not become a good manager. Instead student with lesser scores learn to handle problem quickly and becomes a good manager very soon. Some of the ideologies also states that good scorers are actually good just in learning theories and are not good interpreters. Thus a student scoring good marks does not confirm to have all the qualities of a good manager.
A good manager is a person who not only learns various management techniques but also tries to interpret them and even apply in the real life situations to get the desired results. Thus it’s not enough to have good bookish knowledge to become a good manager. In fact a person need many other personal and professional traits that can help in getting the benefit of the knowledge about various managerial techniques and methods.
Writing management involves learning about good leadership qualities, planning, decision making and various other steps. But in actual having this information is of no use until the person has the ability to decide which technique to be used in the present situation. Thus the selection and right application of these techniques brings the desired results and not just the techniques themselves. For example a calculator has the capacity to solve many mathematical problems, but until we input the correct data we won’t get the desired results. Similarly, even if a person is well equipped with the knowledge of various management techniques he still needs to develop personal and professional traits to become a good manager.Image
Writing management takes place in management schools and colleges where in students are given case study and other associated knowledge from books. But the on floor experience keeps missing. Thus the students can hardly relate to the actual life problems that can be handled with good experience and professional outlook than just bookish knowledge.
If we look on the other side of the coin, we will find that managers with less or no writing management knowledge are unable to handle things throughout their professional lives. These people may not have the professional qualities and knowledge about handling problems in the organization. Thus they mostly use their hard and fast rules learnt from their experience in the industry which may results in affecting the morale of the employees and may create other problems within the organization. Thus a person equipped with the writing management knowledge will be able to recognize the problem and associate it with the learning he has done during his academic years. This way a more professional way of handling problems can is done by the person who has writing management knowledge than actual management professional.
